One Foot in the Grave by Jeaniene Frost My rating: 5 of 5 stars Four years ago, Cat abandoned her lover Bones, as well as her former life to join a secret branch of the U.S. government that was formed to hunt vampires. She did it thinking it was the only way she'd be able to save Bones from the men that were threatening her. Now, however, she's facing Bones' sire Ian, as well as a contract on her life, when Bones suddenly reappears in her life. She is overjoyed to see him, but she knows it still won't work. Or will it? In the second book to the Night Huntress series, we get a lot more Cat and Bones action, more fighting, and some awesome new characters, in Don, Juan, Tate, Denise, and Annette. We also get to see more into the vampire world with glimpses of Ian, Spade, and Mencheres. I love this book, and honestly, I think it's my favorite of the whole series. Halfway to the Grave by Jeaniene Frost My rating: 5 of 5 stars Meet Cat, the half-vampire wonder. She is human, with vampire traits, and she came about from the union of a young vampire, and a human. Meet Bones, vampire hitman, and the bane of Cat's existence... until she realizes that not all vampires are bad. I first read this book back in 2008, and I fell in love with the series. Cat is smart-mouthed, violent, brave, courageous, and wonderful. Her undead lover Bones is, at least in my head, kind of like Spike from Buffy the Vampire Slayer, meets Angel. When Cat and Bones first meet, they hate each other. Bones gets Cat to join forces with him as he goes about hunting vampires. It's perfect, since she can act as bait since the vampires he hunts are interested in young, attractive women. Guilty Pleasures by Laurell K. Hamilton My rating: 3 of 5 stars This book is the first of the Anita Blake vampire hunter series. It was also, many years ago, my introduction to the world of paranormal fiction/romance. Since then, I've kind of become addicted. Anita Blake is an animator. That is, she raises zombies for a living. She also moonlights as a vampire hunter, and is on call for the St. Louis Police Department's Regional Preternatural Investigation Team... or RPIT (pronounced Rip-it). When vampires, who are legal U.S. citizens in LKH's world, start getting murdered, Anita is called to the case by not only the police, but also by Nikolaos, the Master Vampire of the city. Anita has a serious prejudice against vampires, and at the start of this series, it really shows. She cannot stand vampires. She only agrees to work for them under duress, and only finally solves the crime for them under duress. Not once does she do anything for them willingly. In this book, we al
