Grimspace by Ann Aguirre My rating: 5 of 5 stars Grimspace is the story of Sirantha Jax, a former Corp "jumper;" a person who can propel space ships through a section of space called Grimspace, which allows long distance space travel fast. When her ship crashes on Matins IV, killing everyone on board, she becomes the scapegoat for the Corp. But Sirantha can't remember what really happened... Did she cause the crash and deaths of 82 people, including her lover? When she's busted out of a Corp psyc facility by a Pilot named March and his motley crew, she finds herself on the run, with bounties on her head. Now she's trying to figure out what happened on Matins IV, while helping March and his crew with their project as well. Will Sirantha be able to figure out what happened to her before it's too late? And what about March, is he a man she can really trust? Grimspace, and the world it takes place in reminds me a bit of the world of Firefly. March et al remind

Frost Burned

Frost Burned by Patricia Briggs My rating: 5 of 5 stars I have been in love with this series from the first moment that I started reading it. This book is no exception! Mercedes Hauptman, mate and wife to the local werewolf Alpha Adam Hauptman once again seems to find herself in a spot of trouble... but this time, the trouble doesn't seem to be focused on her. While out on a Black Friday shopping trip with her step-daughter Jesse, Mercy finds herself in a small car accident, and she can't seem to reach any of the Pack for help... mainly because someone has taken the ENTIRE Pack hostage. Who would kidnap a Pack of werewolves? Mercy slowly starts to uncover the mystery, with the help of the werewolf mating bonds, but things seem to run deeper than what was just on the surface... soon Mercy finds herself embroiled in a heap of trouble that has very little to do with the Pack at all. Will she be able to fix things before they get out of hand? Frost Burned is the latest installme

Priscilla: The Hidden Life of an Englishwoman in Wartime France

Priscilla: The Hidden Life of an Englishwoman in Wartime France by Nicholas Shakespeare My rating: 3 of 5 stars **Advanced Reading/Review copy provided by the author/publisher for an honest review** I won this book through the Goodreads giveaways, and I was honestly intrigued by the whole concept. I've read many WWII books, from the perspective of the Jewish people who perished in Nazi concentration camps, and from historians who were doing research on the U.S. Soldiers and what they faced in the European and Pacific Theaters, but I'd never read one from the perspective of just a person who lived through it in Europe. The story centers on the author's Aunt, Priscilla, who was the daughter of the at the time famous radio personality SPB Mais. Priscilla grew up in England, under her parents' unhappy marriage, until they finally split. She dealt with her mom's awful boyfriends and flings, and grew apart from her father. Her best friend Gillian is all that really hel

MacRieve

MacRieve by Kresley Cole My rating: 5 of 5 stars MacRieve is the story of Uilliam (Will) MacRieve, a strong, handsome Lykae male, and his human/soon to be Immortal mate, Chloe Todd. Will as a child was abused by a succubus, and because of his young age, ended up losing both his parents, and his unborn sister. Haunted by their deaths, he has a... hard time coping with his life, and with relationships. Chloe lives with her widower father, and is a professional soccer player. One day, during a huge match, in which Olympic scouts are in the stands, she notices something strange... REALLY strange... her hearing is all of a sudden magnified. She also starts noticing other issues, all seemingly super-human. When she tells her dad about the strange call she heard him on during the game, he disappears, but only after revealing a secret world of Immortals that she never knew about. With her father gone, one night Chloe gets kidnapped by witches, and set to be sold at an auction, since she has
