I've read many WWII books, from the perspective of the Jewish people who perished in Nazi concentration camps, and from historians who were doing research on the U.S. Soldiers and what they faced in the European and Pacific Theaters, but I'd never read one from the perspective of just a person who lived through it in Europe. The Longest Date: Life as a Wife by Cindy Chupack My rating: 4 of 5 stars I wasn't sure what to expect from this book when I entered the Goodreads contest for it. I knew it was going to have some comedy, which is always a good thing, and would mostly be lighthearted, which is again a good thing. What I didn't expect was for Cindy Chupack to invite us into her and her husband Ian's life for 200 pages. And I'm glad I read it! This book was just a wonderfully delightful trip through the ups and downs of another person's marriage. Now, don't get me wrong, she doesn't go into all the sordid details of their marriage, but rather, she tells stories and anecdotes to show that life isn't perfect, and neither is marriage. She and her husband got married later in life, and they tried for children; and failed. And that part of the book is what got to me the most I think. So, I know I've been quiet as of late. And the reason for that is because of the book series that I'm working on. It is a massive, epic, undertaking, and to be honest, because each book is so large, I have a tendency to let the books run together in my mind. So, what I'm going to do is to do a review on the series as a whole (to date), as soon as I'm done with it. Game of Thrones, as it's better known (It's actually A Song of Ice and Fire), is what will be coming next. I'm finishing up A Storm of Swords right now, and honestly, I breezed through it. So, yes, that means that right now, I'm very quiet, but I promise that I am still here, and I am still working. :) ~♥~ Lady D
